Rochester, N.Y. 1944  US Navy Bausch & Lomb Microscope  Serial #: VL8127                     Production Date: 1944  US Navy Bausch & Lomb Microscope  Laboratory model with revolving nose holding three objective lenses.  US Navy Bausch & Lomb Microscope  The base of the instrument is engraved “U.S. NAVY” & the Paraboloid Condenser is marked “USN.  MD.”  US Navy Bausch & Lomb Microscope  This microscope, with a built-on mechanical stage was designed for laboratory research & for bacteriological work.  Also, used in colleges by students to demonstrate the use of different kinds of illumination used in microscopy. Physicians used this type of microscope for blood counting and for bacteriological work requiring oil immersion. It is of tilting construction, with a fixed length tube (non-drawing), accepting regular size eyepieces and objective lenses. The 43X dry objective is used for blood counts. The 97X oil immersion objective is excellent for bacteriological work.  Optics are all in very good condition, no scratches on lenses, and with cosmetic tarnishing of metal.  US Navy Bausch & Lomb Microscope  An Abbe Condenser is furnished, which fits into the substage from below and it is provided with an iris diaphragm.  It sends light through the object sufficiently large to fill the aperture of the objective with light.
